Black-and-white interiors had their time to shine, but 2018 is ready to give way to a new minimalist palette. Soft, washed pastels like mint greens and sandy pinks will totally reimagine simple modern design in the coming year

To make a room feel larger, light to mid-tone shades are the way to go. Rich, saturated colors such as grey or chocolate brown tend to make a room feel small and cozy and bring the walls inward. In addition to color, consider the framing finish. Glossy surfaces reflect light, and this helps to expand the space.

An overwhelming trend for decor in 2018 appears to be creating tech-free sanctuaries, where you actually find a little relief in unplugging and actually relaxing

Blues remind us of the sky and the sea, making them calming, tranquil and serene. Pale blues also give a room a feeling of spaciousness. Pale to mid-tones are ideal for creating a soothing environment because they invoke feelings of tranquility. Darker hues tend to be dramatic and energizing.
