Brighten up a dull space

Just because a room lacks an abundance of natural light doesn't mean you have to settle for living in a dark space around the clock. Believe it or not, this is a fairly common dilemma that top interior designers solve for all the time. A well-lit space isn't just more inviting—it can also improve your overall wellbeing. A bright, airy home can help boost your mood and lower your stress level. To get you started on transforming your home into a light-filled oasis, we rounded up some of our favorite decorating tricks. While a major renovation can certainly correct the issue, thankfully, it's not the only option you have. There are tried-and-true decorating tricks that designers rely on to brighten up a dark room.

Embrace maximalism

If an all-neutral room is not your style, there's no need to worry. Going for a bold accent wall and a palette of daring hues can energize a room and make it appear brighter.

Every designer knows that the fifth wall is a key element in a design scheme. This project was beautiful from conception. Art Dallas partnered with HUE Design to create this glowing art installation in a hospitality space.

We started by hand-finishing the wooden panels to match the interior of the space. The deep colors and dramatic lighting have a classic, luxurious feel.  Individually spaced using a CAD drawing, each of the 740 individual hand polished rods were placed to create that beautiful glow in this space. Walking down this hallway is like walking into a modern art exhibit.

Metallic Sheen

Incorporating shimmery gold or silver accessories is an easy way to transform a dark and dreary space. The simple addition of a metallic mirror, light fixture, piece of artwork, or even a decorative object has a way of reflecting light and making a design scheme feel more luxurious.

This style is the design addict’s must-have, understated for a room yet hyper-chic! Make them your statement pieces to bring life to your design. One of the most fun remodels for 2018 is a focus on art pieces toward rich metallic tones such as deep coppers, bronze, gold, and even crisp silver.

This custom copper piece was cut, printed, aged, and mounted in-house at Art Dallas! Metal works are one of Art Dallas' specialties. Each of the 150 individual copper pieces were cut by hand and then arranged for the most beautiful aesthetic appeal. This work brought some serious sheen to the HD Expo 2017 booth! This work was hand selected by the Art Dallas consulting team and installed in the new Canopy Hotel in Uptown Dallas.

Large Works

A large, colorful work of art is not just a solution for defining a specific area in a home. It can also be used to inject personality into a room and show off your aesthetic.

When it comes to giving any room in your space a new look, a large color palette should be your muse. There are so many gorgeous hues, and when executed well, they elevate life in any space.

This custom printed wooden and rope work was made in house at the Art Dallas Workshop. First the pattern was created by our in house graphic designers then printed on the custom cut wood. The work was then mounted on a painted wood backdrop where the hand painted nails where fitted and tied with black rope. This Art Dallas Original brings life to a simple wooden round.

Mirror Magic

Double the amount of sunlight in your room by allowing it to bounce off reflective surfaces. Hang a large mirror directly across from the largest window in your room, or arrange an array of smaller mirrors to help brighten the space. Thanks to its captivating look, antique mirror shows how far updating the classics can take you.

These natural elements add major glamour to any room. The cultured and regal aesthetic of the vibrant precious metal that is layered on the Art Dallas antique mirror has proven to be timeless and enduring in its appeal. These works are a lovely addition to a neutral environment, and appear luminous in the soft glow of diffused, natural light.

A beautifully Antique Mirrored print created in house at Art Dallas Inc is the perfect fix to a dull space. On this specific original the graffiti was digitally edited then printed on glass. The piece was then antiqued with our signature Golden Girl. And because the name fit the work so beautifully it was then framed in a large sleek wooden frame.
