I have always had a strong interest in art and design. Some of my earliest memories
involve my parents encouraging me to be creative. If I wasn't building a city out
of Legos or creating my latest art project, I was probably rearranging my room and
analyzing the design of my personal space. I began appreciating the distinct differences
in architectural and interior designs in grade school. Even at that stage, I remember
being relatively obsessed with the architectural details of buildings right down
to the furniture, art and accessories. In the 6th grade, my parents gave me an art
deco lamp that I really loved. This was a catalyst for my obsession with modern
design and architecture. I started collecting Art Deco, Art Moderne, and Mid-century
Modern objects, art, furniture and lighting through junior high and high school.
By the time I was in college, I had filled two storage spaces as well as my apartment
with my collection. While getting my degree in interior design from the University
of Oklahoma, College of Architecture, I worked for a local modern art and furniture
dealer finding pieces for their collection as well as a number of other, related
activities. Following these varied but related pursuits led me on a career path
in art and design. I really enjoy helping architects and designers with their art
selections and being part of a successful, collaborative effort. Architecture wouldn't
be complete without well planned interior design, just as an interior wouldn't be
complete without the careful selection of art. I do my very best to make that happen.
